Hello again, thanks for sticking with the blog, I can see from the stats on the page that there are a fair few people reading the blog now so I'm trying to keep it updated as much as possible. I hope you are enjoying the updates. I have a few bits of news and some pictures to show you as I have been quite busy this last week.
Due to the bank holiday I had some time to browse eBay. There have been a couple of purchases made (which I will take pics of and post up when they arrive) firstly the Walnut squirrel family, BNIB on eBay, the seller listed them as used because she had taken them out once or twice but I think they are in perfect condition and very cute! A bargain at less than £10 including postage.
I also managed to pick up some figures for my daughter. We got the Springer Kangaroos, used but again in great condition also for less than £10 including postage. So it is possible to get good quality figures at a decent price to build your collection. You don't always have to buy new, Some of the rarer figures are often kept in pristine condition by collectors but listed as used on eBay.
And speaking of eBay, the Vintage house has sold, and to a lovely buyer who is intending to play with it with her granddaughter so it is lovely to know that someone will really get to have a proper play with the house.
So with the Vintage house finished and sold, Meadowcroft Cottage currently up for sale and Rose cottage decorated and given to my daughter, out of the bundle of 4 buildings I got on eBay last summer, only the vintage Bakery remained untouched.
So, I looked through all my stalls and sets and decided I would unbox some of them and mix in different accessories (which is something I rarely do because I like to keep each set separate, boxed and with its original inventory, all accounted for so that I don't loose any pieces) and I created a Patisserie/Cake Shop.

The roof was missing its sign so I papered over it with roof tile paper to smarten it up and hide the holes and it looks fab! From the outside you can see all the net curtains at the windows and also the windows themselves. As you will know if you have this building, that they are just big holes in the front, so I used some plastic packaging to make window panes. They look great and actually give the building a much more real feel.
A peek through the door reveals the lovely display of buns, cakes and doughnuts. Yum!
Inside the cosy little cake shop, Suzette (from the Family Life set 'Basil & Suzette) is serving behind the counter. There are pieces from the Cake counter set, the delightful doughnuts set, cakes from the Marquee set, silver trays and cake domes from the butler set, the counter and till are from the post office set. The shelves in the windows needed replacing so I used the planks/seats that are supposed to go with picnic set from the horse and cart (the one with the Marquee that goes on top). I never really saw the point of them but they have come in useful now! I added a few lace bits to the shelves and some paper liners and it really made a difference to the window displays.
I am very pleased with how this turned out, I wish I had taken a photo of what this looked like before I decorated it because it went from nothing to something quite fast and with great results. I don't think I will be selling this one!
